With its iconic lightning bolt and puntastic title, Aladdin Sane introduces a new character or, perhaps more precisely, an evolved Ziggy. David described it as ‘Ziggy goes to America’. Another Bowie/Scott co-production, it is rockier than Ziggy, though still very ‘glam’, with jazz elements and the extraordinary keyboard skills of Mike Garson hitting you right between the eyes. This record showcases a confident Bowie, now established as huge star, and was successful on both sides of the Atlantic.
