His fifteenth studio album, Let’s Dance was co-produced with Nile Rodgers of Chic. It yielded several hugely-successful singles, not least of which the title-track, which was a hit in many countries. It soon became his most lucrative album to date. The album took a mere seventeen days including mixing and saw Bowie playing no instruments himself, calling it a “…a singer’s album”. He had originally been intending to work with Tony Visconti again, but approached Rodgers, rightly believing that together they could produce hit singles. With its clean sounds and funky sweetness, Let’s Dance is a big, brash, shiny pop-rock album, giving David exactly what he set out to achieve.
