Introducing us to the Thin White Duke character, this album was recorded after Bowie starred in Nic Roeg’s The Man Who Fell To Earth and uses a still from the film as cover art. Recorded while Bowie was using drugs heavily – notably cocaine – and, as such, he claims to recall little of the album’s creative process. Produced by Bowie and Harry Maslin, the songs are gently interwoven with the more funky sounds of Young Americans while leading us meanderingly towards a more electronic sound.
