40 years ago today David Bowie played at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, Michigan on his Isolar Tour.
Michael Gacek asked if we would like to post his never before published pictures from that show, over to Michael for a bit of back info…
30 some of us rented a bus and driver, went from Minneapolis to Milwaukee on the 20th February 1976 to see David, then on the 21st to Wings Stadium, Kalamazoo Michigan to see him and we got right up in front. Another friend of mine was on the side and somehow during the show I got his Peoples State Bank shirt and I threw it up to David, David looked at it and laid it over the monitor, you can see it in the photos. We got it back after the show and I have it now.
I remember 2 of us, my friend Tim and I did find the hotel Bowie and the band were staying at and we ran into Carlos Alomar in the hall, chatted a bit and that led us to David’s room. We knocked and his assistant Corinne Schwab answered the door, we saw David sitting on the edge of the bed with his shirt off and said he wasn’t feeling well and he would put 2 autographed photos at the front desk for us in the morning, and he did and they were both personalized to each of us.
My friend Tim still has his and mine was stolen at a party, I am still sad about that.
