Happy 40th Anniversary To ‘Ashes To Ashes’, Released 40 Years Ago Today!

Released on this day in 1980. Ashes To Ashes was the first single from the 1980 album Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) and became Bowie’s second UK No. 1 single. It entered the UK singles chart at #4, going to #1 a week later, where it stayed for 2 weeks.

It is also known for its incredible video, directed by Bowie and David Mallet, which at the time was the most expensive music video ever made. You can watch it above.
