Jérôme Soligny concludes the Rainbowman trilogy with RAINBOW+, a complementary yet differently structured volume compared to the two parts published in 2019 and 2020. Featuring completely new illustrations and photographs from Mark Adams & Tony Visconti.
The book has 216 pages of exclusive interviews (F.Hardy, Iggy Pop, J.Richman, P.frampton) and reviews.
In the early ’90s, Jérôme Soligny set out to find Mike Garson, the extraordinary pianist who transformed Bowie’s music on “Aladdin Sane”. This album marked several generations of fans, notably with its famous piano solo. After several discussions, Jérôme Soligny suggested to Mike Garson that he make an album of piano covers of Bowie songs, and in 2011 he released “The Bowie Variations For Piano”.
In 2024, to close the “Rainbowman” trilogy and accompany “Rainbow+”, Jérôme Soligny launched the idea of a vinyl version: “The Rainbow Variations”. The album features nine Bowie covers, including “Space Oddity” and “Wild Is The Wind”, plus one original track. Garson, who is inseparable from Bowie, displays the full extent of his talent one last time on this project, which brings their collaboration to a fitting close.
